With a history dating back to 1955 and originally a manufacturer of wound magnetics products, the company has changed names on several occasions due to management buyouts and acquisitions. The company in its current guise really started in 1985 when a group of managers purchased what was a struggling division of Newport Instruments and formed the company Newport Components Limited (NCL). This group of highly driven individuals took the existing magnetics technology and decided to use this knowledge to offer our customers something that wasn’t available to them in the form of PCB level and packaged isolated DC–DC converters. With a very similar philosophy to Murata, Innovation was the key to our growth and NCL went on to set the benchmark for low power DC–DC converters. After a short and unsuccessful time under the owner ship of C&D Technologies the NCL business along with the rest of what is now called Murata Power Solutions was sold to Murata, where once again I am happy to say that innovation and technology are once again key to our future. Now firmly part of the Murata family we look forward to creating innovative products and solutions and being trustworthy and together with our stakeholders, thankful for the increase in prosperity. |
