Taiwan, situated at the heart of the East Asian island chain, enjoys benefits in trade transportation and semiconductor industry clusters. In 1978, Murata acquired the Taichung factory, establishing MET, which initially manufactured traditional capacitors and ceramic filters. As Taiwan's semiconductor industry grew stronger and significant changes occurred in the business environment, MET's production focus in Taiwan gradually transitioned from passive products to semiconductor back–end process products. In conjunction with Taiwan's flourishing IC design sector, MET has set up a comprehensive semiconductor product production line in Taiwan.
