MES Green Initiatives FY2024 annual policy by PNN highlighted the continuous cycle of Social and Economic value in creating a sustainable society and enhancing corporate value while co–creating values with stakeholders. MES has been actively looking into both the Waste recycling and Circularity approach so as to contribute to ESG pillar (*particularly Environmental Materiality). Waste Recycling approach: PET film used in the production as well as Sn & Ni solution generated from plating process are sent to waste recycling company that have the ability and capability to do recovery and convert extracted material to another product instead of sending the waste to incineration plant. Circularity approach: MES implemented MDU (Membrane Distillation Unit) for WWTP (Waste Water Treatment plant). Purpose is to: 1) Mitigate heavy metal (Ni/Sn) discharge into the environment 2) Recovery of Ni/Sn for circularity 3) Recovery of wastewater to promote water conservation and re–cycling 4) Promote re–purposing of discharge sludge instead of normal incineration and landfill
MES CSR Initiatives – 2024 Kayak & Clean In line with Murata’s corporate philosophy, we continuously aim to grow together with our employees, business partners and community. To promote adoption of good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, as well as to enrich our CSR programmes, we become a member of Singapore Compact since 2008. Murata's MES volunteers stepped up to protect our marine ecosystem by participating in a shoreline and water clean–up at Jurong Lake Gardens. Inspired by the urgent need to address plastic pollution, the team worked together to remove harmful debris that poses a serious threat to marine life, such as turtles. In total, approximately 50kg of trash was collected with the top team collecting 20kg. This initiative aligns with Murata's commitment to biodiversity conservation, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for the community.
